Winning, Trophies and Champagne

More than 200 crews from over 20 different clubs descended onto the beautiful River Dee in Chester this weekend for the 280th annual Chester Regatta, the longest running rowing regatta in the world.Chester regatta agecroftI was coxing two crews (a crew of girls and a crew of boys) and we were hoping to beat our competition in order to win one of these magnificent trophies…Chester regatta trophiesI love the beautiful ornate detailing on them!

So, did we win anything? Well, the clue may be in the title of the blog post…yes of course we did! Both of my crews pushed themselves really hard and demolished the competition. Hooray!

Here are my girl’s crew, with our coach David, being presented with our trophy by the Lord Mayoress of Chester and the regatta sponsor (forgot his name!). Unfortunately we don’t get to keep the trophy but we did get to keep our awesome shiny medals.IMG_0296 IMG_0309 I was a very lucky cox and not only did I win with my girl’s crew, but also with my boy’s crew (who like to make me look very short when I stand next to them!).IMG_0339 IMG_0343 And what better way to celebrate than with a magnum of Champagne.Chester regatta champagneIMG_0356champagne ollieWinning is very fun 🙂
