Sunshine, Moonlight, Good Times, Boogie

Sunday was another beautiful day so we headed down to the Salford Wake Park at the quays to watch the Salford Wake Battles where pro wake boarders went head to head in competition. The wake park opened very recently and allows you to practise wake boarding using an overhead cable tow rather than relying on being towed by a motorboat.

It was great fun to watch them doing tricks and trying to guess which riders would win before the judges announced their scores. Exif_JPEG_PICTURE Exif_JPEG_PICTURE Exif_JPEG_PICTURE Exif_JPEG_PICTURE Exif_JPEG_PICTUREAnd it was funny when they occasionally fell in…Salford Quays wake boarding wake park

Later on that evening, we headed back home to get changed ready for our friend Elin’s birthday house party. We put on our glad rags (bright red dress for me, navy and pink striped shirt with a purple blazer for Darren), cracked open the first Pimms of the summer, ate lots of yummy BBQ queue food (hello maple syrup drizzled pork belly!) and boogied all night.

Our friend Martin (bearded man above) put on a super playlist including such mega hits as Gangter’s Paradise, Michael Jackson’s Beat It and even some Taylor Swift. Once the Pimms had run out, we moved onto Darren’s Dad’s homemade apple wine. Darren’s Dad makes all sorts of homemade wine from fruit and vegetables that he grows himself, and some of this wine has proved to be pretty lethal in the past (marrow wine, I’m looking at you) but this stuff was lovely.Ellen's party collageWe also snacked on lots of Party Rings, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and the yummy chocolate cake that my friend Lottie made for Elin. Some homemade watermelon vodka also featured 🙂 I love any excuse for a party!Elin's party collage 3I hope you’re all having a great week so far! I think that my next post later on this week will be my May Favouites.

Ah, right, so that’s what that noise is. I live on t’ Quays (no, I’m not a Canadian Goose) and have always wondered what all the speaker phone yelling is and clapping is all about over there. One can’t quite see from my view, one can’t.
