Adventures in Wales: part 1

D and I decided to pop off on a little mini-break to Wales. We stayed at the lovely Lake Vyrnwy Hotel which had a beautiful view over the lake and truly scrumptious food. Just look at the view out of our window!Image

The hotel was deliciously old fashioned with plenty of stuffed animals and tapestries. I loved these fish on the wall! Image

I’m a big fan of castles so today we popped to Chirk Castle for a visit. Image

This is a beautiful old castle which is over 700 years old with very pretty gardens, including some gorgeous sculptures in the garden. It was originally built as part of King Edward I’s campaign to subdue the Welsh and was later converted into a generous country house. There were beautiful interiors, fantastic portraits and even a dungeon!

In the evening we had a sumptuous five course dinner at the hotel which left us absolutely stuffed! My highlight was the gingerbread cheesecake. I can thoroughly recommend it!

Part 2 will be coming tomorrow.
